The Richmond and District Civic Society protects and celebrates Richmondshire.

Our work is built on four core values: rich heritage, long history, a beautiful townscape, and stunning natural beauty.

Founded in 1967, the society has nurtured and developed a pride in our area through:  

  • Holding regular talks on local history, culture and landscape  

  • Monitoring planning applications affecting heritage sites  

  • Organising visits and tours both within our area and throughout the UK  

  • Providing information for visitors to Richmond  

  • Keeping strong links with other civic societies and heritage organisations in the UK.
